Teen Vodka Tampon Use On The Rise

I’ll lay odd that “slimming” originated in some Conservative backwater Bible Belt state. On the coast, we know that booze are for drinking– not shoving up your keister. Do these kids just drop trou and insert with everyone standing around? A bunch of vajazzled girls and Axe Body Spray wearing pimply faced boys with sore asses, trying to get drunk– but can’t because they won’t put the bottle to their lips!

SAT Test Takers Bewildered By Snooki

The blogosphere lit up this week after complaints from students who took the SAT exam last weekend were distraught and confused thanks to an essay question about– reality TV.   Some of the students felt that the question wasn’t fair since they weren’t familiar with reality TV or watched very little TV to being with. Really? [...]

Teacher Natalie Munroe: Keepin' it real

This stance has resulted in a suspension from her job as a Pennsylvania high school English teacher. Natalie liked to blow off steam by blogging about how her students at Central Bucks East High School were “lazy,” “frightfully dim” and “rat-like.” For almost a year and a half, Munroe had blogged quietly about muffins, Food Network stars, her favorite movies and her job. And then someone at school found out and all hell broke loose.

Dad Castrates Man For Dating His Teenage Daughter

Irate that his teenage daughter was dating an older man and frustrated that the police refused to intervene, a German dad went to the 57-year-old’s home and castrated him with a bread knife. We are Anglophiles here and tend to agree with most things that cross the pond.  So when the Telegraph came out with their list of the Ten Worst Fashion Faux Pas,  I was intrigued.  The stuff that I try to turn a blind eye to gets on their nerves too. 10 worst fashion faux pas [...]

Things I Miss About The 20th Century, Album Covers

Things I miss about the 20th Century… album covers.  I’m talking the nice big twelve inch or so square pieces of art that were the graphic embodiment of the music contained inside.  Granted most album covers were utilitarian and just helped to identify the enclosed record from the hundreds of other records on the shelf.   [...]

Are You Popular?

Before teenagers looked to TV, Facebook, and Twitter they had to rely on educational film strips to tell them what to do and how to behave.  This one from 1947 entitled “Are You Popular” tackled the thorny question of teenage popularity. Some of the pearls of wisdom in this ten minute short: “No, girls who [...]

Night Train Misses Drunken Teen

A drunk French teenager narrowly escaped death last week after falling asleep on a railway track and slumbering undisturbed as a high-speed train speed over him. The 19-year old, whose name was not released, remained fast asleep face down on a stretch of track near Saint Nolff in southern Brittany, as the Quimper to Paris [...]

Is Guinness Helping or Hurting Humanity

The alcohol is fine.  We love Guinness stout.  I’m concerned about these parents that allow their teenagers to go all out so they can get into… the book, the Guinness World Records, known until 2000 as The Guinness Book of World Records. Recently there was 17 year old Mike Perham who became the youngest person [...]
