Colin Furze is a remarkable man.  Inspired by James Bond and no doubt by the George Carlin quote:

The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, “You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I’m just not close enough to get the job done.”

Mr. Furze spent a month tinkering in his Stamford, UK garage with his scooter and figured out a way for it to produce a 15 foot jet of fire.  It took three attempts to make the flame-throwing moped, which works by pressing a button on the handlebar.  “It’s a lot of fun and when I fire the flames out the back it makes me feel just like James Bond,” said Mr Furze.

“The flames are pretty big and up to 15 feet long so you could definitely set fire to someone’s car if you wanted to. The only problem is it can get rather hot if you are riding the moped and blast the flames when the wind is in the wrong direction.”

I think its cool and I want one.  So that I could torch people who tailgate, teenagers who text while driving, or moms who are preoccupied with their backseat kids.

Unfortunately, local police spotted pictures of Mr Furze allegedly riding his scooter on a public highway – and arrested him.  He was held on suspicion of possessing an object converted into a firearm, and was released on unconditional police bail without charge until May 6 pending further police investigation.  Mr Furze, from Stamford, Lincolnshire, declined to comment.

Speaking before his arrest, he said: ”Everybody wants a flame thrower on a motor bike.  ‘I don’t need a flame thrower on the back of my bike, I’m not going to set fire to people’s car’s, it’s just something interesting to do.”
