A veteran Dallas County jail guard has been fired for making offensive comments to co-workers,  including his contention that gays should be “put to death.”  Stephen Johnson, 59, had been disciplined for making offensive comments in the past, records show.   He was fired last January for conduct unbecoming an officer and for lying to internal affairs during the investigation.

Why is this even news?

Johnson showed a co-worker an ancestry binder that he said proved his family once owned several slaves, reports said. Johnson refused to leave after co-workers told him they were offended by his comments, according to reports. “They made it out to be that I was a bigot. I was fired ’cause I hurt someone else’s feelings,” Johnson said Monday. He said that his free speech rights were violated but that he had no plans to appeal his firing.

OK, so he’s a loudmouth who likes to play the A-hole at work.  Every place has one.  But was this really enough to get fired?  He’s proud that his family owned slaves in the Old South and he hates gays.  What could have been the final straw?

In a sworn statement, Johnson denied saying he supported slavery while noting that “slavery is a fact in the Bible.” He also said he couldn’t recall saying that whites are the superior race. In the statement, Johnson offered an opinion about the origin of dinosaurs.  “I believe that all dinosaurs were born of Satanic angel who has sex with woman and the animal kingdom that created ungodly reptilian creatures none of these were on the Ark.”

That’s why he was fired.  He’s a know it all!  “Bigotry, racism, we can handle that– but that Satanic dinosaur theory is just too much!”

Johnson also said that he didn’t believe in homosexuality and “that they should be put to death,” according to his statement. But he said his beliefs don’t lead him to treat gays differently.

The sheriff’s internal affairs department concluded that Johnson persisted in giving his opinions of the Bible despite being asked to leave.  “He continued making statements which included his belief that God had sex with angels, and that dinosaurs were destroyed because man had sex with them, as well as his belief that the Devil had sex with humans,” the report concluded.

So by Stephen Johnson’s logic… its good that God had sex with angels.  Its bad that the dinosaurs died out thanks to man having sex with them.  I’ve seen Jurassic Park how would that even be possible!?
