I’m all for taking your kid to work. Hopefully it gives them a sense of work ethic, they get to see what they may want to be when they grow up. But some jobs, I say no… like air traffic control at JFK International Airport. How many billions of dollars are spent on Homeland Security? We take off our shoes off at the airport, we now have full body scanners in place– so that we can believe that we are safe. And all it takes to screw that up is some guy who thinks it would be cute if his kids did his job.
The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement: “Pending the outcome of our investigation, the employees involved in this incident are not controlling air traffic. This behaviour is not acceptable and does not demonstrate the kind of professionalism expected from all FAA employees.”
The agency did not give any further details. The union representing air-traffic controllers condemned the workers’ behavior. “It is not indicative of the highest professional standards that controllers set for themselves and exceed each and everyday in the advancement of aviation safety,” the National Air Traffic Controllers Association said in a statement.
Right.
