We’re coming to your town we’ll help you party down! Wrong band, but life actually imitated art in 1975 when KISS went to the town of Cadillac, Michigan to play Homecoming. Its one of those bizarre feel good stories with grease paint and rock and roll. The high school football team got on a win streak by playing KISS in the locker room. So the town thought, why not invite the band to play Homecoming. I can’t tell which is cooler, that KISS actually showed up or that the town embraced them to the point that the mayor and the city council wore KISS face paint.
No texting, no Facebook, no Tweets, you liked a celebrity– you wrote a fan letter. You got an autographed picture back or a pre-signed thank you form letter. Granted KISS went to the extreme of showing up for the football team, but all of the pictures and video from the event were from people that were there not a horde of paparazzi or a camera crew from a VH-1 reality show. When people say it was a simpler time, this is what they’re talking about.
