Tiger Woods has been shooting for the magic number of 18. Not 18 girlfriends, but the 18 major golf championships held by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus. With his recently announced hiatus from golf, it will take Tiger longer to hit this goal. Unfortunately, Tiger has hit 18 in a more dubious place– the story of his implosion has made for 18 consecutive front page headlines for the New York Post.
To put this in perspective, the record for consecutive front page headlines by one subject for the New York Post was 19 days held by the September 11th terrorist attacks back in 2001. So by the logic of the editorial staff, Tiger Woods is more important or should be at least as important to the newspaper’s readers as the events of 9/11.

I think my favorite is, “tiger admits: I’m a cheetah.” I just can’t imagine anyone actually admitting that. If I did, I would put the emphasis on the ahhh, maybe with a little roar at the end while making a clawing motion. Feisty.
