So anytime there’s a news item about Mexico, particularly about corruption or the drug cartels I check it out. I do have some distant relatives that live in some of these areas. Also, I use the articles to talk myself out of travel to Mexico anytime in my lifetime. If you’ve read my previous post about Mexican tourism, you may have already guessed as much.
Today’s post is just a tiny blurb courtesy of the Associated Press. The severed heads of six state police investigators have been found in the northern state of Durango.

We don't have a picture of the severed heads, so we decided to go highbrow with a Caravaggio painting from the Renaissance.
Being a cop in Mexico is like being a witch in Salem circa 1692. If you’re alive, you’re probably corrupt and on a drug cartel payroll. If you die, you were probably an honest cop.
I don’t mean to make light of this. It just pisses me off that for almost a decade we have been chasing windmills in the Middle East. Yet, next door politicians, police, civilians, and tourists are kidnapped and murdered and the most coverage it gets is two paragraphs as a side note.

Its illegal to carry weapons into Mexico-- because they already have enough.
So, what does this have to do with you? Probably not much. Why do I mention the Associated Press in particular about this very item? The last sentence of their article reads, “There is no immediate information on the possible motive in the slayings.” Really!… Really?
