The problem with being a dead celebrity is that people will talk about you when you’re gone. And you can’t come back and defend yourself from the vultures. Being a celebrity anything, anyone, or anyplace you came in contact with for more than half a second is instantly “interesting”.
Take attention starved stage mom, Dina Lohan’s claim that Lindsay was secretly seeing Heath Ledger before he died. Everyone agrees that Ledger was a classy talented guy. His death was a loss. The only people pushing the Lohan-Ledger affair were her mom and some gossip columnists. Not one member of the ever present paparazzi was able to produce a photo of this alleged affair. Ledger’s people are too classy to comment on the Lohans’ publicity grab. But the chemically challenged and career stalled Lindsay Lohan got to coattail ride on Ledger’s good name for more than a few news cycles.

Rest In Peace
If its not hearsay and innuendo with dead celebrities then private images (stills and video) often get aired in public. Like this one of Marilyn Monroe smoking pot that recently surfaced. A collector is paying $275,000 for the full four minute silent film, but not before 53 seconds of footage was given to Reuters.
