So last night I pulled up The Cleveland Show on my DVR.  The show had a Thanksgiving holiday themed open straight out of the late 1970s with guest stars:  Crystal Gayle, Waylon Flowers and Madame, Tony Dorsett, and The Cleveland Brown dancers.  As funny as the open was, the part that made me howl the loudest was the inclusion of Waylon Flowers and Madame.

I haven’t thought about Waylon Flowers and Madame in 20 years.  So of course I jumped on You Tube to see what videos were out there.   In the 21 century, we push a button and relive that which we seek; a note to our younger readers– in the dark ages before videocassettes, DVDs, and the streaming video on the Internet you had to have a couple of friends who could remember completely random things like old TV shows, movies, and supporting casts of crappy movies for instances like this.

So anyhow, I found two hysterical clips from the 1980 Beatrice Arthur Special featuring Bea Arthur, Madame, and Rock Hudson.  I told Holly what I found and had planned to post.    She replied, “That is the gayest thing  I have ever heard.”  And this from a woman living in a gay neighborhood with scores of gay friends.  To be honest, she loved the Cleveland Show episode and was trying to get me to remember when Waylon Flowers and Madame were on the Hollywood Squares.

  2. Bea Arthur, Madame, and Rock Hudson? The Gayest Thing Ever ……

I found your entry interesting do I’ve added a Trackback to it on my weblog :)

  3. I found this clip of Miss Arthur’s final interview with Bea discussing her career and life in her own words. It also includes Betty white. I think it’s for a show called, “Lunching with a Legend.”

I’d hate for a full interview with Bea or the other legendary ladies in the clip to go unseen. I’d like to see if she final discusses her service in her final interview.
