Brits Are Ugliest In The World‎ So Says Elite Dating Site

Reuters picked this up today, Britons are among the ugliest people in the world, according to dating website BeautifulPeople.com.  Fewer than one in eight British men and just three in 20 women who have applied to the “elite dating site” have been accepted.  The site was founded in 2002 in Denmark and went live internationally last month. Since then, the site has rejected nearly 1.8 million people from 190 countries, admitting just 360,000 new members.

The way that BeautifulPeople.com accepts new members is simple. A potential member applies with a photo and a brief profile. Over 48 hours, existing members of the opposite sex vote whether or not to admit them.  Options are: “Yes definitely,” “Hmm yes, O.K,” “Hmm no, not really” and “No definitely not.”Swedish men have proved the most successful, with 65% being accepted, while Norwegian women are considered the most beautiful with 76% accepted, the website said.

Ok, so the site is really picky about who gets in with its 20% acceptance rate.  But to go out and say that Brits are ugly is absurd.  Every country has its broad share of what George Carlin euphemistically labeled those with “severe appearance deficits”, but the UK has a lot of hot people. Just to name a few: Jude Law, Ewan McGregor, Christian Bale, Elizabeth Hurley, Kate Beckinsale, Orlando Bloom, Daniel Craig, Lena Headey, Keira Knightley, Kevin McKidd, Miranda Richardson, Kate Winslet, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.  Granted everyone I named is an actor or actress, and they aren’t trolling around on dating sites.

But let’s look at this for what it really is– a huge publicity grab for the dating site.  Maybe they’ll come out each year and insult a country they want to drum up business in. Beautiful People managing director Greg Hodge defended his site.  “I would say Britain is stumbling because they don’t spend as much time polishing up their appearance and they are letting themselves down on physical fitness,”  “Next to Brazilian and Scandinavian beauties, British people just aren’t as toned or glamorous.”

Only the male Russian and Polish applicants fared worse than British men, although Russian women had a 44% acceptance rate. Polish women did not appear in the table.  German applicants were slighted for uploading unflattering photographs, which may have hindered their acceptance rates at 15% for men and 13% for women, the lowest rate in their category.  “German men and women aren’t faring well, but they are submitting stern images, they need to soften up,” Hodge said.

I still say to lump together an entire geographic region and call its citizens ugly is complete rubbish.  Here in America, we could just as easily say they are no attractive women from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Washington, West Virgina or Wyoming.  My proof– in the 88 years of the Miss America pageant, no woman from those states has ever been crowned Miss America.
