Check out the clip below, its fun. Its cheeky (literally). Air New Zealand has conveyed the message that affordable travel can be sexy and fun. Its a nice break from the complete drudgery that air travel has become.
To be fair Southwest did try and bring fun back with their “Wanna Get Away” campaign– yet somehow the message is that you have to embarrass yourself before buying a ticket, so that you can escape your shame.
Speaking of Southwest, I found some great photos from the 1970s when the airline was selling low fares and the sex appeal of hotpants?

Going in the opposite direction, American Airlines was telling its passengers their flight attendants weren’t go-go dancers but mothers.
In the 1970s for some reason being sexy meant being sexist. If feminism was at its height in the 1970s how did this all “fly” so to speak?
