I took a trip down memory lane, to a simpler time.  When the only people who wanted to kill us, actually had an address you could find on a map (Red Square in Moscow).  Back when the Republican Party stood for something and wasn’t being torn apart by an ex-beauty queen, a blowhard radio personality, and some guy trying to reach one armed midgets.  For me it was “Morning in America” and the Cold War was on again at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley.

Achtung, Baby!

Of the three Presidential Libraries I’ve visited (Nixon, Clinton, and now Reagan), this one is easily the largest and has the most impressive exhibits.  The Reagan Library’s got chunks of the Berlin Wall, the Boeing 707 that served as Air Force One, Marine One, and an F-14 Tomcat.

Even with all of the large installation pieces, there are some smaller bits of memorabilia, like the powder blue 1965 Ford Mustang he used to campaign in when he ran for California governor, his huge collection of belt buckles, and the obligatory Oval Office diorama.

Although not to be completely out done for cool factor, the Nixon Library does have the house where he was born and the mother of pearl handgun that Elvis gave him as a gift.
