Six German states have ordered retailers to stop selling Red Bull Cola after an analysis found .4 micrograms (1/2500 of a milligram) of cocaine in one liter of the drink.
Well, sort of cocaine. It does come from the cocoa plant but it’s a “non-active degradation product” according to Fritz Soergel of the Institute for Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Research in Nuremberg, Bavaria.
I have no idea what that means other than the only high you’ll get from Red Bull Cola is from the caffeine and sugar. Authorities in North-Rhine Westphalia have said that the presence of the cocoa leaf extracts means the soda can no longer be classified as a food stuff and must be labeled a narcotic and therefore must be licensed to sell.
All I’m saying is…Cadbury better watch its ass.

Taking that truth in advertising thing a little too far

I think there may be a typo in this story. Cocaine comes from the coca plant, not the cocoa plant like the article says. Chocolate comes from the cocoa plant. It would be an easy error to make, considering that a spell check is not likely to point it out.
