Kirstie Alley is on the cover of People for gaining weight.  Why!?  Is this how far celebrities have to stoop, in order to get some press?

What price vanity?

What price vanity?

Kirstie don’t do this to yourself.  We loved you in Star Trek II, in Cheers, and maybe that first Look Who’s Talking movie.  We don’t care that you got bored and started eating.

First off, you look pretty good for a 58 year old woman.  The younger generation of celebrities ain’t exactly cutting it.  Exhibit A…

Second, it can’t bother you that much that you gained the weight– you went and did a photo shoot.  I guess your need for publicity trumps any kind of vanity.

People: Are you self-conscious?
Kristie: I’m totally inhibited. When I’m overweight I will not go out. With my closest friends, yeah.  But you wouldn’t see me at a premiere.

No premieres, you’ll just be on the cover of  People Magazine this week.

When Kirstie Alley stepped on the scale for the first time in 15 months, it wasn’t pretty. “I started screaming,” Alley, sipping homemade fruit-infused water in her Hollywood kitchen, tells PEOPLE in the cover story of its new issue. “It said 228 lbs., which is my highest weight ever. I was so much more disgusting than I thought!”

Stop with the phony outrage, those 83 extra pounds got you the cover! Short of joining the cast of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, nothing else was going to make the editors of People pick the phone and care.  You’re not having any babies, you aren’t out of rehab, you aren’t having an affair with Jon Gosselin of Jon & Kate Plus 8, and you haven’t made an anorexic pact with your twin sister this week.

At least Kristie is having a much better week than the newest darling of the conservative movement, Carrie Prejean also known as Miss California.  On top of finding out that her top was surgically enhanced, its come to light that Ms. Prejean had some naughty pictures taken in her past and lied about it. Shocker!
