I know that the week isn’t over yet but this one is perfect.  Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell spoke with reporters today about the defection of longtime Republican Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter to the Democratic Party:

So I think the threat to the country presented by this defection really relates to the issue of whether or not in the United States of America our people want the majority to have whatever it wants without restraint, without a check or a balance.

Uhh.  Mitch where were you the last eight years?  The GOP controlled all three branches of government and things turned out just fine… unless you lived in New Orleans, were in the National Guard, bought a house, had a 401K, were an auto worker, etc.  Mitch stop with the phony outrage, the conservatives still have a grip on the Supreme Court.  Maybe this is a signal that the GOP needs to stop placating anti-intellectuals, social conservatives stuck in the 1950s, and teabaggers.
