Life on Mars (the US version) had the worst series end since the Sopranos or Seinfeld. (Don’t argue. We all watched Sopranos not because of the insipid family dynamics, and they were. We watched it for a small and blown up peek into the world of a crime family from New Jersey of all places.)
Long story short, Sam is not in a coma, dead or crazy…he’s on a spaceship headed to mars. Ray, Chris, Annie, Gene and to some degree Windy, a chipper version of HAL the computer, are kept in some sort of hibernation and Sam’s trip to the year 2009 was a computer generated dream. A glitch made him hallucinate about 1973.

This worked out much better in Britain
There were LOTS of really bad David Bowie puns and an effort to tie up loose ends that weren’t really of consequence. It was soo beyond painful. To make matters worse, after hearing about me raving about the BBC version and Ashes to Ashes my mom watched the finale. I felt REALLY guilty for the first time since high school.

WTF– on Life on Mars. It sounds like a really awful mad lib. I watched it about three wks ago and it was well done (he slept w/ his babysitter). I’ll see if its still online, I like studying train wrecks.
BTW, the Sopranos finale was ponderous and unsatisfying. Seinfeld was appropriate.
Sopranos finale was BS.
I will agree with you on Seinfeld. It’s only appropriate that a show about nothing that annoyed the crap out of me have a non-ending and annoy the crap out of me.
