Why do I have a picture of Julie Newmar in a 1960s ad for Smirnoff Vodka here? Why not? Occasionally, I post the odd vintage advertisement and this one took me back to my childhood. Was I child alcoholic? No, although if I had seen this ad as a kid and I thought I’d meet Julie Newmar or women who looked like her I would have been.
My Julie Newmar crush started with the syndicated runs of the 1960s Batman TV series. I was always crestfallen when it was a Mr. Freeze, King Tut, or Egghead episode. This is a christening of a sort and I needed a beauty with a bottle.
We’re celebrating six months (give or take a week) online and a redesign of the site. The blog has readers on six continents in over two dozen countries.
