My Governor is Better Than Yours

Yes, members of his own party hate him.  But come on, you have to envy my governor.  He doesn’t have to pander to the media or bow before the alter of Rush.  Sure his approval ratings in his own state have hit new lows, but has yet to embarrass himself on the national stage.  Esquire astutely pointed out that Schwarzenegger is governing 12% of the US population (about 37 million people).  He’s managing the 10th largest economy in the world (if California were a separate nation).

He isn’t part of the whining no-ideas GOP, he’s out pushing the Green Economy.  This week he was speaking at Europe’s largest technology fair, Cebit, to promote investment in California.  In the last year California has seen $3.3 billion in venture investment in green-tech start-ups, which is half of all venture investment in the sector in the U.S., according PC World.com.  He’s making money for his state, rather than charging a petty per diem.  We’re talking to you Gov. Palin.

The wolf huntress likes to make sure she gets her money no matter what she’s doing (state business, monthly interview with Greta Van Susteren, etc.)  To bad the IRS says she owes money on the $17,000 she claimed in “travel reimbursements”.

Schwarzenegger wasn’t caught on tape trying to sell a US Senate seat.  Ok ex-Governor Blagojevich. Oddly, things worked out for him.  He broke the law “allegedly” and still got a six figure book deal out of it.

At least, Schwarzenegger won’t be confused with Kenneth the Page from 30 Rock.  Gov.  Bobby Jindal.  Dude, that was so not a blue blazer moment.

I do have to say runner up for governor envy is Joe Manchin of West Virgina.  That’s right West Virginia.  This guy is trying to turn around the image of his state.   Its hard to forget a few years ago when Abercrombie & Fitch sold a shirt emblazoned with a map of West Virginia and the words IT’S ALL RELATIVE, while just last year then–Vice President Dick Cheney cracked that he had Cheneys on both sides of his family, “and we don’t even live in West Virginia.”  When liberals and conservatives make fun of you, its something of an uphill battle.
