You now have a reason to watch the Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl. That is if you were looking for one in the first place. Tune in before kickoff on Saturday December 20th and you can enjoy the dulcet tones of the one and only David Hasselhoff. The Hoff will be belting out The Star Spangled Banner.
By now you know my stance on the endless and pointless bowl system. But with the additional star power of The Hoff, I think this match up between the Brigham Young Cougars and Arizona Wildcats becomes relevant. More relevant than say the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl to be played on Tuesday December 30th in Boise, ID. That’s right. Imagine making your way to Boise… in December. Fans of the University of Maryland Terrapins and University of Nevada Wolfpack are saying, “Hey, we only lost five games and we’ve been invited to a bowl game… in Boise.” The only reason to watch this one… Smurf Turf.
You can adjust the color contrast on your TV with the blue field of Bronco Stadium. There might actually be more ESPN viewers than fans in the stands, a story broke mid-week that only 16 tickets had been sold by Maryland and 8 by Nevada. The low ticket sales were quickly denied and bowl organizers have said they expect a crowd of 25,000– mostly locals to attend the game.
