Voting Ballot

Voting Ballot

I went and stood in line for 45 minutes.  It was a shock to see that many people out of vote at 7am.  I don’t remember seeing this many people at the recall election that put Arnold Schwarzenegger in office.  The only minor snafu was the fact that we have two precincts in the polling place.  On the back of the sample ballot it says green table or orange table.  If you live north of the boulevard its orange, if you are south then its green.  I was able to help about eight people figure out which line to stand in, simply because the poll workers were too busy to direct traffic.  After about thirty minutes the two lines merged– at which point the poll workers freaked out and sprung into action.  Ok, they didn’t spring.  One of them fired up their Hoverround and shooed us back into two separate lines– kind of like herding cattle.  Cattle with lattes and cellphones.  Eventually, I got up my ballot and went into the booth.

It was an experience not unalike the one recounted in The Onion.
