It wasn’t really shocking. If the best paid person on your staff is the hair and makeup person, you’re not going to have the brightest staff for the important stuff– like screening calls. Its not the Governor’s fault, her staff handed her the phone– she thought she was speaking to the president of France Nicolas Sarkozy.
Granted she might not have picked up on the Johnny Hallyday reference, but she should have known that Stef Carse is not the Prime Minister of Canada (another place she can see from her house). The crazy thing is the length of the call– not all French people sound like Maurice Chevalier and Pepe Le Pew. Also in the Governor’s defense these deviant Canadians are professionals they’ve gotten to Mick Jagger, Britney Spears, Bill Gates, and Nicolas Sarkozy.
