I really like the show. It makes me feel like premium cable is actually worth it. I’m finally getting over the fact that HBO canceled Deadwood and Rome, two of my favorites. So I’m watching tonight’s episode and who appears as a vampire… Steven Root. Umm. Are we sure about this? Vampires are either supposed to be incredibly sexy or ghoulishly undead– not Steven Root. Don’t get me wrong, I am a big fan of the man. I loved Newsradio, his immortal portrayal of Milton Waddams in the classic Office Space, and I’ll throw in Dodgeball.
But my man Steven isn’t what I think of when I think vampire. And I’m old enough to remember when George Hamilton and Frank Langella put on the fangs and cape. I know what the writers are shooting for– but he’s still Milton to me.
