I grew up with all of those great disaster movies in the 1970s. Classics like The Towering Inferno, Earthquake, and The Posedion Adventure. I’m not quite sure why people were obsessed with this stuff but they were. Another classic was the Airport series of films. Starting with 1970′s iconic Airport and ending with the absurd Concord ’77 the films always dealt with some plane full of celebrities that was in peril. One scene that happened in every film was the rapid decompression scene caused by a cracked window, a hole in the floor, or opening the door. Everybody screams and people and item are sucked out of the plane. Over this past summer a deranged naked man and some crazy women tried to prove that Ab Fab was a documentary by attempting to recreate that Hollywood special effects magic.
